Herefordshire Council has received a planning application (P170834F) for change of use of nos. 3 & 4 Sear House, Bye Street from 'Class A1 (retail) to a mixed Class A1/A3 (coffee shop) together with shopfront alterations'.  This is from agents acting the Bristol-based chain Coffee#1, who (the agent states) has similar shops in Monmouth, Hereford and Tewkesbury.

These are the former premises of Clubsport (now relocated to the Homend) and the now defunct Advantage Business Supplies.

Although a commercial consideration rather than a planning one, we do wonder if Ledbury needs (or can support) yet another coffee shop!

Herefordshire council recently received a further application (P170526/F) for change of use of the old ambulance station off Bye St to a 'hot food takeaway (Class A5) with associated external alterations, including the installation of extraction and ventilation equipment' - in this case from agents acting for Domino's Pizza UK and Ireland Ltd. - yet another chain....

Update: Ledbury Town Council recommended refusal at its planning committee meeting on 9th March.  It gave potential parking and noise problems as reasons.  The so-called 'Voice of Ledbury' Facebook page has been quite vociferous on this issue since then.

Those who wish to voice an opinion have until Thursday 30th March to do so - the easiest way to do this is online through this link to application P170526/F.
