Ledbury Area Cycle Forum (LACF) applied to re-allocate Portas (Ledbury Town Council) and Tesco grant funding from the Cyclehoop purchase to a schools 'balance bike' project.  Additional funding was secured from the Ledbury and District Civic Society, Ledbury Rotary and an anonymous donor.  In June, six bikes were purchased for each of 9 local primary schools.  The Early Years children will develop valuable skills and active travel habits, while having a lot of fun in the school playground and getting plenty of outdoor exercise.  It is estimated that the bikes will be used by about 250 children per year, all of whom will benefit from increased self-confidence and an easy transition to pedal bikes.  An additional grant from Eastnor Lodge recently allowed the purchase of another bike for each school, which were delivered last week.
