Silurian Border Morrismen are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year.  As a part of these celebrations, we are hosting our fifth annual Border Morris Meet on Sunday 14th April, starting at 11am in Ledbury.

Following the success of the last few years where we have had sides visiting from as far away as Devon and Lancashire for the day, we’re extending the day of dance into more of a weekend by including a 50th Anniversary Silurian Ceilidh on the evening of Saturday 13th April in the Malvern Cube, starting at 7:30pm.

Join us for a night of ceilidh dancing, music and silly games, with the Silurian Big Band Sound plus well-known local callers Ian Craigan and Chris Mulvey.  NO raffle and NO tombola - but be prepared for lots of nonsense!

Tickets are £10 on the door, or are available in advance for £8 from the Malvern Cube, Malvern TIC or online.

Border Morris dances use basic steps and figures accompanied by vigorous sticking and an enthusiastic musical accompaniment.  Founded by folk legend Dave Jones, Silurian began dancing on Boxing Day 1969 in Ledbury and have kept faithful to the dances that Dave and others collected from documents and former dancers or witnesses in the Welsh border counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Shropshire.

Silurian meets for practice every Monday evening at The Talbot, Knightwick.  Anyone wishing to find out more is welcome to call in anytime from 8:30pm or contact the Bagman via our website.

As part of our 50th we are raising funds for Toilet Twinning.  We aim to twin every toilet in The Talbot with a New Loo in a developing country!
