N.B. The type is cut in wood and some cast in metal. Guttenberg is the most famous man to make this form of type in 1450. Caxton introduced it to England in 1476. Travelling presses then made the printed word available to everyone.

Heidelberg Original 10" x 15" Platen. One of the last made. Installed 1st May 1980. Probably designed in the 1930s.

Form on the Wharfdale - made in Otley by Payne & Son. The red lines of a poster 20" x 30" Double Crown.

A near full fount of 10 point Cheltenham Bold. The typeface is the style of the type. A fount is a set of type in a single size i.e. 10 pt Gill is a different fount (font) to 12 pt Gill. It's called a fount because the letters are cast in a fountry.
