Its a Living Thing

Please Dont Kill The Portal! It breathes, It lives, It's real. It is my first port of call when checking out local issues. I find it very informative, entertaining and more realistic than any other local press available who specialize in making us aware of all the horror and misfortune surrounding us but then throwing in scattered good will stories as a visual dissinfectant for our sore eyes. We have the opportunity right now to input whatever we want and instantly change the shape and flavor of Ledbury's only Free citizen based online magazine. I personally would rather not be forced to purchase any other local newspaper and read that the Portal has been bought out by fatwallets because nobody bothered to save it. The Portal is written for the people by the people and it will be destroyed by the people if we don't input as well as view it. Please join in and prevent the Portal from being sold. If it dies i believe a piece of every citizen journalist who took the time to breathe life into and shape its unique personality will die with it.

Well said lllrae. The Portal will not die, not whilst there are people out there who still cherish their voice and the right (and means) to express their opinion.

Re: Its a Living Thing

Thank you both for your support. Indeed the Ledbury Portal will not die as Marcus says.
My present role in the Ledbury Portal as owner, editor, writer and videographer is too extensive. It takes up a great deal of time and energy - without any financial reward, I may add. However, my greatest frustration is the emotional energy it demands - it is the walls of oppposition to the Portal from individuals and organisations; it is the divisive and antagonistic nature of the little politics that pervades pockets of society that is encountered in Ledbury, which erupts as negative energy flows of suspicion, jealousy and intolerance; it is the mind-killing irrational circus of hierarchial bureaucracy that pervades local government that initially greets you with a bared teeth apish smile; it is the 'oh I forgot about you' indifference and ignor-ance.
Last Christmas I sacked myself as editor in an attempt to resolve this situation. The Portal must have editors. The position was advertised but no one came forward. I am willing to 'sell' the Portal to the right person or people with the assurance that it remains a citizen journalist website and that it is worked on daily.
I know some people would rather I just stopped writing. But hey - that's the fun bit.
