I'm waiting for my bin

I still haven't had my new wheelie bin. Weeks and weeks and weeks I'm waiting. Every time I phone them they say they'll get back to me and they don't. Today the nice woman from Herefordshire Council told me I'd have to wait up to six weeks. Four weeks ago it was two weeks. The nice woman told me the new system had been a 'cock up' and was a 'complete mess' by waste management. Their phones do not stop ringing.

Today through my door arrived the irritating 'Herefordshire Matters'- the County Council's image conscious propaganda mag. Inside Councillor John Jarvis tells us "I'm delighted the service has got off to good start [sic]." Obviously as well as collecting the rubbish they're talking rubbish as well. Why don't waste management and councillors go talk to their own people on the ground and tell us the truth?

They also proudly boast that they are now collecting twice as much recyclable waste with this new system. This tells me one thing - the old system they presided over was crap and didn't work at 50% efficiency. What a waste, Herefordshire Council, for years and years what a waste.

Re: I'm waiting for my bin

Funny you should mention that. I'm in the middle of Gloucester, on Jersey Road, and waiting patiently for the green wheelie bins I hear they're 'rolling out' (at least for once that council jargon they speak is literally accurate). Two weeks back, though, it occurred to me that they already have these green bins on Alfred St, and Derby Road. What's up with that? I have a back garden as big as anyone's...
