Blowing in the wind
Nobody should be at all surprised by Israel's latest attack on the unarmed relief convoy to Gaza. If you couldn't see it coming, then you don't really understand the nature of Israeli foreign policy and that of her allies, in particular the USA and its lap dog, the UK.
Their foreign policy is repeated again and again - attacks on Gaza, Iraq and Afghanistan are not pre-emptive strikes or invasions to defend and protect a homeland from some kind of imagined (or otherwise) military strike from a militarily weak aggressor.
Israel's attack wasn't pre-emptive, rather it was preventive. The preventive military action enables the USA and her allies to attack and invade countries that hold a contrastive point of view, a differing ideology that dares to criticize the way, methods and functioning reality of the USA.
This preventive action is not new - think Vietnam, think Grenada. The rest of the world has no diplomatic answer or sanction to this. The USA's supreme military might set the precedent long ago and we have only two choices, neither of which are very attractive:
We do as do now. We join in and support the USA and Israel.
Or, we become the enemy of the USA. There is no neutral pose. In the long run Europe and Asia are seen by America as potential enemies, being the only possible threats to future American supremacy. Bare that in mind!
Meanwhile, our politicians and media commentators can continue demanding some kind of response to Israel's brutality. But with or without understanding the above they are merely gesturing, sucking their teeth and blowing in the wind.
