The Questions Bill Wiggin Refuses to Answer

As Bill Wiggin gets himself ready for the General Election the Ledbury Community Portal reveals the questions that Bill Wiggin refuses to answer about his involvement in last year's cancelled parish election at Leominster & Lower Bullingham that the High Court last week ruled to be void:

   1. You contacted the Returning Officer, Chris Bull, asking him to find legal reasons to disqualify Jim Miller from the ballot. Why did you do this?
   2. Is it usual for a sitting MP to interfere in a parish election?
   3. Did you realize that the pressure you brought to bear on Chris Bull might cause him to act illegally in disqualifying Jim Miller from the ballot?
   4. Your actions and those of the two Conservative Herefordshire councillors, who also contacted Chris Bull about Jim Miller's candidacy, resulted in Jim Miller's disqualification from the election, which meant that Conservative candidate Benson Ferrari was elected unopposed. To an outsider this may look like a Conservative conspiracy to disallow Jim Miller a candidacy in the election and to insert Benson Ferrari unopposed. How do you respond to this accusation of conspiracy?
   5. Considering Chris Bull acted illegally and the election has been declared void, you do think that Chris Bull should consider his position both as Returning Officer and Chief Executive of Herefordshire County Council and resign from his £183,724 and 90 pence job? If not, why do you not think so?
   6. You claim to have acted on Jim Miller's behalf when you contacted Chris Bull asking him to find legal reasons to disqualify him from the ballot. If you are re-elected as MP for North Herefordshire do you think you could still claim to have the confidence of your constituents to act on their behalves?
   7. Because of your involvement in this affair, are you considering to resign your own candidacy as Conservative candidate in the upcoming General Election?

Bill Wiggin's response to these questions? To threaten to sue the Ledbury Community Portal for defamation.

If the media cannot even ask questions that the public deserve answers to, what hope is there for an open, accountable government?

Re: The Questions Bill Wiggin Refuses to Answer

Bill Wiggin is going on in the Ledbury Reporter about how the electorate 'saw through the smear campaign' and reelected him.

Let's be honest, Bill. As the Tory party rose up across the nation to retake power, you managed to lose yourself 3000 votes in one of the safest Tory seats in the country.

That's hardly a resounding vote of confidence in you.

You talk of smear by some sections of the media. What smear? Truth about your dodgy expenses claims which, reportedly, are still being investigated? Truth about what you really think about the 'whinging' working man? Truth about you sticking your nose where it doesn't belong - in parish elections?

Considering the majority of the bottom feeding media supported your campaign by not telling their readers what you had been up to, and, in the case of the Hereford Journal, lying to its readers to make you look good - you should have won by even more votes.

If so many people weren't so apathetic and disillusioned by politics, you might have had a run for your deposit. As it is, people know, either consciously or intuitively that it doesn't really matter anyway, as politics is merely the icing on the cake of deceit. It's not government that runs the country, it's Tesco and their like.

Re: The Questions Bill Wiggin Refuses to Answer

Smear?
The High Court case (Miller versus Bull) was held just a week or so before the General Election. The Ledbury Community Portal was questioning Bill Wiggin about his involvement in last year's Leominster & Lower Bullingham parish election, which the High Court ruled a candidate hostile to Mr Wiggin's expense claims was illegally excluded from.
This timing of the case was the High Court's not ours. Is B.W.'s ego being paranoid here?
I asked the questions. B.W. refused to answer. There's open government for you. No conspiracy, no smear campaign, just a bunch of unanswered questions....

Perhaps our representative should take a smear test.
