Letter in Journal tells the truth

Last week the Hereford Journal was forced into publishing a letter from Jim Miller by the Press Complaints Commission.

Mr Miller's letter corrects the Hereford Journal's assertion that MP Bill Wiggin had been 'cleared of any wrongdoing over expenses' as Mr Wiggin is still under investigation.

The Hereford Journal published this incorrect assertion just before the General Election despite having been informed that Mr Wiggin was still being investigated by the Parliamentary Commissioner.

Mr Miller rightly wonders how much of a bearing this 'propaganda' had on the election result. We will never know. However, the media has always been a tool for the likes of governments to issue propaganda. It is up to us as media consumers to see through propaganda, reveal it and attempt to tell the truth.
