Who is the real journalist?

Just been asked by an event organiser if I would come and film a local concert for publication on the Ledbury Portal website. I said that I would love to. He then told me that the Ledbury Reporter were interested in this same concert as a story for their newspaper/website. But guess what - the Ledbury Reporter can't/won't send a journalist to do the story for themselves, and so have asked the organiser himself to take some pictures and write up an article himself.

Soooo.... Who is the real journalist here? What in fact is a journalist? What is the difference between doing-it-yourself and asking someone-else to-do-it-for-you? Answers on a postcard please, or leave your own remarks here on the Ledbury Community Forum.
