Slovenly Car parkers

Why is it
a) people park inconsiderately and illegally on pavements, within 10m of bends or junctions etc.
b) in narrow roads blocking traffic,
c) it is not policed !

If such basic decent behaviours are not encouraged the rot sets in, or has already - Oaks from little acorn etc.

Driving around Ledbury is getting more and more difficult purely because of lazy, perhaps ignorant people and drivers who just can't be bothered to think of anyone but themselves, blocking the paths of pedestrians, those with Prams etc. Making negating roads by pedestrians or other road uses unnecessarily hazardous.

If individual's can't be bothered to demonstate considertation, compliance with basic laws of the road of their own good behaviour or volition why is the law and or the  responsibilities of owning and parking vehicles - considerately let alone legally, not enforced?

For anyone visiting us it makes it look like Ledbury is full of lazy inconsiderate people and a society that can't be bothered to maintain the laws put there for society's consideration or even safety!

You could do something about this by bringing it up as part of the Town Plan

Hmmm. If you live in Ledbury, you should not be driving in Ledbury unless you are infirm, disabled etc.  About 70% of the cars in Ledbury come from elsewhere in Ledbury.  You might say cycling is hazardous - that is the main reason given by those who don't for not doing so.  It's not as bad as you might think - and riding the Town Trail is a pleasurable alternative to Bridge Street!  I do use a bike because it is:

    a) Almost zero cost;
    b) Saves time (yes - it is quicker since you don't have to faff around finding a parking space) and
    c) Zero parking cost.

(quite apart from environmental considerations).  I often wonder how much petrol prices must increase to make the Great British Public get its fat a**e out of its car!

Re: Slovenly Car parkers

It is not just in the town centre where people park their vehicles so badly.  I went to support the ledbury car boot Sale recently, held near the rugby club, and was appalled at the shocking displays of ignorant "abandoning" of cars, with no thought for anyone else.  The worst aspect was the person who parked his/her car with the bright sunshine on the back window, and two beautiful dogs in the car.  Yes, the windows were partly opened, but the heat was suffocating.  Fortunately Paul the site manager was called and so were the police and dog warden otherwise these dogs might have perished - How could anyone be so foolish!!  So car users, park sensibly and if you have a pet, park responsibly and either take you little friend with you on a lead, or leave them at home.
