JMHS Demolition Squad

Earlier this year the genre-defying rappers the Anomalies and two poets Shane Solanski and Martin Stannage facilitated workshops with an enthusiastic group of pupils at John Masefield High School. The Anomalies continued working with their group at Ledbury Youth Centre with Pippa Hart who coordinated these sessions.

The workshops were made possible through an invitation from the Big Chill’s Education Outreach Programme who gave the school the unique opportunity to perform this year at the Big Chill Festival. So on Sunday 3rd August in the Words in Motion Tent, 30 pupils gave a confident and professional performance to a crowded audience.

We are really proud of the poems, raps and dramatic monologues they produced and are very grateful to the support from Sam and Murphy from the Anomalies and also the enthusiasm from Shane and Martin in the workshops they delivered and many thanks to the Big Chill for including our pupils in this year’s festival.
