Herefordshire Council has updated its guide to re-use organisations in the county.

The leaflet, last produced in 2006, is a directory of local voluntary and community organizations where residents can donate unwanted or surplus furniture, electrical appliances and other household items. There is also a leaflet available for Worcestershire. The re-use guide is an essential tool for every household for re-using both bulky and smaller household items, helping to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill and supporting local charitable causes.

Councillor John Jarvis, Herefordshire Council’s cabinet member for the environment and strategic housing, said:

“Re-use prevents valuable resources going to landfill, saves energy and virgin materials, while providing useful goods at affordable prices.

“Many of these organizations also help people with difficult

circumstances and frequently provide employment and training

opportunities,” he added.

Leaflets are also available from Info in Herefordshire centres throughout the county.
