Ever wondered where the name of your town or village came from?

Local Herefordshire publisher GHAL presents four new books in the series ‘Signs into History’ which explore the fascinating origins of the place names of Herefordshire.

The books cover four areas of the county:

1  Ledbury and Bromyard        3  Hereford and the South West
2  Leominster and Kington        4  Ross on Wye

They delve back in time to the Celtic Welsh, Romans, Anglo Saxons and Normans discovering the reason why places have the names that we know today.  The books are on sale at £3.00 each (£11.00 for the set of four) and can be viewed and purchased at the forthcoming:

h.Art Open Studio: Aspects of Herefordshire and the Marches, Buildings in the Landscape - a display of original artwork by Cheryl Davies.  The studio is open 12 – 20 September, 11.00am to 5.00pm daily at 5 Biddulph Way, Ledbury (just off the Gloucester Road, ½ mile from the town centre.)
