Herefordshire Council’s integrated transport team and Greening the Village, St James and Bartonsham are hosting a special event aimed at encouraging more county residents to set up and join car clubs so they not only save money but help the planet as well.

More than 100,000 people in the UK are already members of car clubs where they can book cars for specific periods rather than having to own their own vehicle.

"In the UK, the average car owner produces more than two tonnes of carbon dioxide through driving each year. Joining a car club can drastically reduce this as car club cars are more environmentally friendly and used more efficiently," he added.

People interested in finding out more about setting up a car club are urged to come to a special event being held at The Courtyard, Hereford, on Tuesday, April 27 at 7pm.

Speakers at the event are Andrew Calper from Llanidloes Car Club, Alice Powell from Talybont on Usk and Robin Coates from Colwall Car Club.
