The bottom end of Church Lane was narrowed to less than one quater of its normal width this morning (13th April) as builders erected scaffolding alongside the Town Council offices:-

One of the workmen told me the security/safety fencing would be removed once the scaffolding was fully erected - and that the scaffolding would be there for 10 weeks, which includes two bank holiday weekends and takes us until 22nd June! This, coupled with similar scaffolding in front of the public loos further along, makes a wonderful sight for the tourists who flock to photograph the most photographed street in the county. The timing, as always, is immaculate....

Meanwhile, I wonder if I'll be able to get my bike up to the Prince this evening (though I did spot a sign saying it was business as usual at the Prince, and the back entrance, off Church Street beyond the Legion, could be used if preferred)....
