If you can stand upon the snow and love it
And watch those tiny birds die one by one.
If you can laugh when ice destroys your pipe-work
And sharp winds take your roses one by one.
If neighbours fall about you in the half light
And cars stay ever frozen in the snow.
If boilers burst and heaters take a down turn
And normal life seems but a distant glow,
Then take your blanket, sit beside the window,
Let cat and dog sleep fast upon your lap.
This icy world will not remain for ever,
Just long enough to get a frozen tap!
