Christian Aid's historic March will reach Ledbury on Saturday 1st September.  The team of marchers ,who are from all over the world, are marching 1,000 miles in 80 days to raise awareness about climate change and the impact it is already having on the  world's poorest people.

Local people will be able to meet the marchers as they stop for a picnic on Malvern Common, near Pickersleigh Road between 12 noon - 2 pm or as they enter Ledbury.  Those who would like to walk the last mile are asked to meet at the War Memorial at 4:15 pm prompt to walk to the end of Green Lane to join the marchers as they then continue along Cuthroat Lane into Knapp Lane continuing along Bank Crescent to be joined by the Town Cryer at the junction with the Homend and led by him to the Market House where the Mayor will formally welcome the marchers to Ledbury accompanied by brass instruements led by John Frirth.  All will be invited to go to St Katherines Hall for light refreshments and a chance to hear the marchers stories.  At 6 pm this will be followed by a 'Climate Talk ' game run by Perry Walker of the New Economics Foundation, the evening finishing at 7:30 pm.

The aim of the march is to put pressure on the Government and businesses to reduce the UK's carbon emissions by 5 per centyear on year and to encourage members of the public to join the national campaign and make personal commitments to reduce their carbon footprint.

The Great Cut the Carbon Shoelace Petition offers people the opportunity to hand in their old shoelaces and replace them with a Cut the Carbon shoelace.  the old shoelaces will be delivered to the Government as a petition on Oct 2 nd in London along with the campaign cards.

In Ledbury shoelaces can be purchased from Ledbury Wholefoods Shop in the Homend (suggested donation £1 ) and old shoelaces can be dropped into a collection box in either Colwall or Lebury Libraries.
