Altered Book Round Robin on Ledbury Portal

A page from Wendy Ruddick's section in 'Childhood Memories'

A Ledbury based Book Arts Group have completed an Altered Book Round Robin, started in October 2010. An Altered Book is a way of re-cycling an unwanted book destined for pulp, but rescued before transforming it into a work of art by collaging, painting or altering it in some way. Local poet and musician, Nick Alexander composed poems for each of the books.

So, nine books have been passed around nine artists for nine months, each book remaining with each artist for one month. The artists included :  Angie Hughes, Valerie McLean, Ann Davies, Pam Frith, Molly Rozier and Wendy Ruddick, whose work you see above....There was the added pleasure of a regular meet up at the  Prince of Wales in order to pass the books on.

All the books have been exhibited at Hereford Museum over the past two months and it is hoped to find a venue in Ledbury for an exhibition in Ledbury during 2012
