A week ago the Malvern centred, Worcester based, American owned Ledbury Reporter gave us the 'news' that Salvation @ Posterity had been voted the best cafe in Herefordshire on Netmums.
Congratulations Salvation! And very clever considering the cafe had been closed for the last four months.
The Reporter's 'news' (17th March 2012) was on a vote taken last year by netmums. It's good to know Bills-Geddes and the rest of the hacks there are on the ball and up to date (not) - doing a sterling job reporting last year's news as current.
I did ask netmums for a break down of the vote, but was told by the site's editor that 'the voting details are no longer readily available on the site.' [my italics]
The Netmums article
Polls by members on websites can be notoriously light weight and misleading. Netmums gains no credibility by not informing the public how many members took part and which other cafes were included in the vote.
Once again the Ledbury Reporter should know better.
And as for being simply a week behind the news, sometimes the 'Distorter' is literally months off.
