Young people from across the county are planning to entertain the public at an exciting promenade style performance in Hereford’s High Town.

On the night of Sunday 1st April an innovative one off free event called The Game will be taking place. It’s the creation of 11-25 year olds who are involved in y.Art, an art project for young people which has been inspired by the council’s arts team. The Game is all about life (with humour!) as a young person in Herefordshire.

It all takes place at Close House, Gilbies Bistro and the redundant nightclub La Rues which will come alive as a dynamic series of outdoor and indoor spaces filled with sound systems, decks, lighting, installations, photos and visual art. Touring through the venues, audiences will experience reality theatre, comedy, film, animation, soundscapes, interactive games and some spectacular skateboarding performances. Audience participation is encouraged but those who wish to just watch are welcome too.

There are three performances of The Game on 1st April: Game 1 from 5.30-7pm, Game 2 from 7.15-8.45pm and Game 3 from 9-10.30pm. It’s free to anyone wearing a y.Art wristband which can be picked up at the temporary skate venue which will be installed on the day outside the Old House in High Town. Places are limited so anyone wishing to join in the fun needs to contact the y.Art team now on 01432 383064 or Facebook yartherefordshire, leaving their name and mobile number.

Mel Potter, Herefordshire Council, said: “We are very excited about this event and have managed to obtain £37k from Arts Council England to run this y.Art project. We have worked with the youth service and eight amazing freelance artists for 14 weeks across 10 youth venues to create a world of sound, performance, film and installation, all around the theme of life as a teenager in Herefordshire.

“The 1st April promises to be a great night out and I’d urge as many people as possible to come along and join in the fun. You can watch or be a player. Don’t miss it so please make sure you order your exclusive wristband to be guaranteed a free place.”
