An artist's impression of poet John Masefield has appeared in Tilley's Alley, with much speculation on the streets that Ledbury has been visited by the artist Banksy.

Although the style is an obvious simulation of the street artist, the artwork in question contains no subversive elements, nor indeed any obscure or obvious social/political message.

The art is well-timed with the impending Poetry Festival, but organisers are not claiming responsibility. Whether intended or not, the Masefield representation offers good publicity for the festival. Will it be incorporated into Peter Carter's John Masefield Walk? Will it be vandalised by the authorities? Will the real artist step foward?
