Bored by Cotswold Morris? You've heard of real bread and real ale? Silurian Morrismen, based in Ledbury, are purveyors of Real Morris - dances from the English counties on the Welsh Border, comprising Herefordshire, Shropshire, Worcestershire and west Gloucestershire. Unlike most other Morris sides you will see, we are accompanied by a large(ish) band and black our faces - a form of anonymity that was used in many Morris traditions until the 19th century.
Our dances were collected by the late Dave Jones, founder member of the side, during the 1960s and 70s from historical records and first hand accounts of dances from some of the surviving Welsh Border Morrismen who had performed in the 1920s. Today we keep this original repertoire of dances.
Thanks to all the venues and supporters for their help in making this festival happen
