Access to the Development Site North of the Viaduct – Parish Poll

Click on the image above to see an enlarged version.

A Parish Poll will be held Thursday 15th August 2019 between 4pm and 9pm at the Community Hall, Ledbury.  You do not need a polling card but you must vote in person.
NB: Unlike an election, voting by proxy or post will not be possible.

The poll relates to the proposed development north of Ledbury (the Viaduct site) and the sole proposed access to this site from the Bromyard Road.  The purpose of the poll is to demonstrate the views of residents in Ledbury to the planners and Herefordshire Council who will be considering this planning application in the autumn.

It asks the question:
Policy LB2 'land north of the viaduct' of the Herefordshire Local Plan Core Strategy 2011-2031 requires "provision of satisfactory vehicular access arrangements".  This site is proposed to contain at least 625 dwellings and three hectares of employment land.  The developer for this site proposes vehicle access arrangements solely via the Bromyard Road (planning application: 171532).  [Ed: This may be viewed online here.  Although commenting online has now closed, it is still possible to write to the case officer (Principal Planning Officer Carl Brace - cbrace@herefordshire.gov.uk).]

Do you consider this provision to be 'SATISFACTORY'?  YES / NO

Leaflets with more information can be obtained from the Ledbury Town Council offices.
Update: These, which include a poor quality version of the image above, have since been distributed throughout the town, but are not available online.  The leaflet also states that the Bromyard Road access will require a widened junction with the Hereford Road, including 3-way traffic lights.  Additional walking/cycle access is proposed:

  • footpath and cycleway access under the viaduct and through the old canal tunnel behind Ballard Close;
  • footpath improvements along the north side of the Hereford Road;
  • two pedestrian Toucan crossings at points on the Hereford Road.
    [Ed - correction: The Toucan crossing is for use by cyclists and pedestrians:
    A toucan crossing is a type of pedestrian crossing that also allows bicycles to be ridden across.  Since two-can, both pedestrians and cyclists, cross together, the name "toucan" was chosen - Wikipedia.]

PLEASE VOTE ON 15th AUGUST - it is vital that as many residents as possible give their views.
