Taking advantage of the 'silly season', Bovis Homes has put in a revised planning application (192482) for land east of the 'Barratt' site, ie. south of the bypass and further towards the Gloucester Road.  The closing date for representations is next Thursday, 22nd August.

The major differences between this one and its predecessor (174745, which was withdrawn in July 2018) are a reduction from 185 dwellings to 140 and yet another roundabout on the bypass.

The bypass is in danger of ceasing to serve its purpose though being less attractive to through traffic, especially on the Malvern to Hereford route, which could easily increase traffic through the town.  This is quite apart from extra traffic generated by the site itself, which would become yet another little ghetto completely separated from the rest of Ledbury.

Carbon Footprint

At the recent council meeting I asked the representatives of Bovis what the carbon footprint of this build would be. They had no idea: they had not calculated it. Despite the UK Government announcing we have a Climate Emergency, it appears the culture of the building industry has not adjusted to this. No surprise here, just a little surprised that both Ledbury and Herefordshire councils are not concerned about carbon emissions from large scale building projects.
