The first cull, from the junction with Victoria Road to the fencing in the lower photo - where the car repairer has since colonised) took place last year.  Last Saturday 18th January, chainsaws were at it again.  The excuse: they were 'dangerous'.  Last year's excuse was the cull had been ordered by the owner of the land.

This line of trees was one of the planning conditions for the Lower Road industrial estate, which were imposed by the original Herefordshire County Council in the late 1960s - when that estate was only intended to be 'cottage industries' - way before Viking Packaging (now Amcor) came on the scene with its 24/7 working.  Two local government reorganisations later (to Hereford and Worcester County Council in 1974 and back to Herefordshire Council in 1998), conveniently for some, 'lost' the planning documents.

Their demise has resulted in increased noise from the estate, quite apart from the awful sight of those crappy sheds:

At least the three sycamores have been spared.  Pressure must now be put on Herefordshire Council to get the whole area replanted - at no cost to the council tax payer.
